Do any of you actually plan on going? Are you thinking of taking a year break to backpack through Europe, go climb Mt. Everest, that sort of thing? Going to a community college for two years then transfering? Or are you an overachiever and going to Stanford and the like? What plans do you all have for after high school?
Me? I wanted to go take a one year break but that doesn't seem likely now that I'm in my junior year. So, I plan on going to Columbia, UC San Diego or Humbolt...possibly NYU but I don't think I care for the "Big Apple" much (they do have a kick ass Journalism department).

Unless one of you plan on living in your parent's basement for the rest of your lives, I'd hope everyone goes to college

Sarien what kind of dough are you rolling in if you plan to go to NYU?? that shit is expensive. It's all about Oakland University or Harvard. And tons of Concordia students transfer to Cambridge.what a dumbass.

It seems really stupid to say that you are going to wait to go to a college until after you get used to another college

no...heres the deal...(concordia ann arbor)...its a small college...and its not directly in the city...so its like a half college...theres 500 students or so...and its in the outskirts of down town ann arbor...and its a christian school...so that's something useful...dont comment on that...if your not christian you wouldnt want to go...if you are...you might...so dont argue something like that...then the fact that it is an easy school...so i dont have to work my butt off my freshman year...then i can go from a small college to a larger one...so its a two step process...ok...?

my question is. why would you even set your sights low. why wouldnt you try to get into the best one possible, one that works for you, rather go to some crap school where you will have plans to get out but eventually get a shit degree from.

a lot of people start small and transfer into a big and usually harder college. ITs a pretty smart move if you dont want to be shocked inot a large university.
For me...I want to go to a smaller school. So im looking at Furman University, University of North Carolina Asheville, and im really looking at Virginia Military Institute, which is one of the hardest (academically and military) in the country.
I visited VMI this weekend. Looks awesome, but hard as crap. YOur first year you have to put up with a lot of crap from upper classmen, but if you hang on then its an awesome school.

If someone is going to go to college, they have to be ready to go. College exists for people to get a higher education, and a degree in one or more fields of study, and that prepares them for an occupation. College is not 13th grade, it is a completely different place than high school. Someone might goof off in high school, but if they do it in collge, their dreams for their future are ultimately at stake. That is not to say that college ca't be fun, but fun needs to be put in its proper place, behind studying! So if you are ready to go and learn and work hard at it, go to college; if you still feel the need to get something else out of your system before you go on to collge, then its good to wait a while, and there is nothing wrong with that. At least that is my philosophy, but it makes sense right?

behind studying? what? thats garbage...while you attend college...your grades and work are NOT the most important thing...your life is...
