Ok I want to know your views people! Is that Kazaa on your computer cheating the bands out of their rightful money? Or are we giving those damn fat cats at the head of major record labels a taste of their own medicine? Or is it just not that big a deal? Please post explaining your logic (Thanks in advance! ;D).

CDS are definately way to expensive, they're just plastic discs that cost very little to make. however, it definately violates the copyright laws, so its illegal. but that doesnt necessarly make it wrong....
I don't think it's necessarly cheating the bands out of their music cuz i download A LOT of music that I would never even think about buying. It's not stealing either becuz u have to actually be STEALING something that exists in a physical form, u cant say that duplicating computer data is stealing.

i do think that this music is cheating their bands outta their money, but they have enough money, well some bands do.
i wouldn't want to cheat a band like switchfoot or some struggling lesser known band outta money cuz i would liek to help them by supporting them. but i wouldn't feel to bad if i downloaded a band like i dunno U2 or The Beatles cuz they're plenty rich.

I use to not care, but now I am pretty much against it and just buy cds.Sure, some places over charge, but you can find most the cds you want for under $14.Hell,Asian Man Records sells all their cds for $8,and if anything they need more money.
I like to support the bands I like by buying their cds and whatnot,I hope you all do too.

Many people that still buy CDs also download some music. psh!

I love system of a down and i don't download their music, in fact i own most of their albums, plus the fact that they are really cheap helps a lot...but most CD's take very little money to make but they still overcharge for them..so if i hear a good song on the radio I'm more likely to download it onto Kazaa than to run to the store and buy their CD...

I say neither. You aren't cheating the bands of anything, only the greedy record labels.
This does not mean that I don't buy the CDs of bands I like. If I feel that it's good enough and the price is right, sure, I'll buy a copy.

I don't know about you guys but I feel better with the real deal.Having the real cd,not some computer feel, feels a lot better,it doesn't feel cheap.
And the record labels might get a good amount of the money, but the band still gets some. And if you like I band,I hope you would want to support them.

It was back when there were less people to talk abut it anyhow. I think shareware programs are alright, considering the price of cds now a days. Plus some underground bands wouldn't be known today if not for Kazaa and other programs like that. But still, some record labels cheat artists out of money, underpaying them and all that. As long as you buy a cd once in awhile, it's cool.
