its wrong--im not saying that downloading a few songs to see if you like the music is wrong; but people who download thousands of files are cheating bands and labels out of their money. it doesnt matter how much money they do have, cause its still cheating them.

The only reason why i download (and that is like one songe once every three months) is to either make a compilation album or Get songs you cant buy (expired CD's, live tracks)
If i ever felt the need (and i never have), i might download an entire CD, but that would be fore this one reason. This is the same thing i do with CD's people burn for me....
To samle the album. Is it worth buying? A friend of mine burnt me "Sorry about tomorrow" By Hot Rod Circuit. I liked it, then i eventually bought it. That's what i do. Like it, buy it.

It is stealing but people have gotten so accustom to it that it doesnt seem like stealing and thats why so many people think its right.

Indeed, I see it as wrong as well, but I like to think there's a grey area. There are those who make music as art, and love their fans and what they do. There are also those *cough cough boy bands cough* that I don't see as falling into that, they seem to be cash-whores. I could be wrong, I don't know any of them personally, but I know there are those who make music they know will become popular to get money. Even if it's actually the producers making the musicians popular to that end. But in general if you want a band's music then buy their cds, that's how we were INTENDED to be able to listen to it at our leisure, and all kinds of other shady crap goes on when cds start getting ripped. Like staff members leaking songs that haven't been released yet. Which sucks a big fat one.

The record industry doesnt "owe you" anything. Yes, i understand that they inflate prices, but that does not justify unorganized theft. If you truly have a concern for the price of your music, everyone should form a movement to where the industry notices that there are people willing to boycott. If the entire mass of consumers comes together and present the prices as a problem, they will change it because of the fear of no sales at all. Not the loss of a few here or there, but all. Stealing the music does not help this cause.
And i have already posted my views on “compilations” and such rare tracks.

I figure what the hell as long as it is free. I would refer you to the southpark episode where cartman makes a christian rock group. So what if the artists don't make as much money. So they get 10 cars instaid of 20
