Do you think the middle east is a modern area? More specificaly Saudi Arabia?
As for me, I don't think so. Most areas lack technology, except for Saudi Arabia and a few other countries. Saudi Arabia however is stile "ruled" by old backward customs, which people are to afraid to change. So, I would even have to say no on Saudi Abrabi just becasue of the heavy influence of Wahabbism.

I don't think that the area as a whole is very modern at all. In fact, they might as well be back in the stone age.

They lack a lot of the "essentials" that modern places in the west might have. Reliable water systems, power systems. Some major cities in the Middle East have a decent amount of technology, but not many, and not anywhere else.

this isn't really a "do you think" question...its more of they are or arent. and no they arent very modern, a lot of places lack running water and electricity (a modern invention)

The Chaun believes that our infidel brothers in the Mideast are far beyond us in technology. Many of you puny, un-Chaunlike types may think that the Chaun has absolutely no basis for this argument (which the Chaun really doesn't). If that is the case, then the Chaun would care to sample whatever it is you are puffing on. Metaphorically speaking, naturally.
The Mideast ought to be one of the most developed areas of the world, owing to trade in the Suez and the wealth of oil in the region. So what's the deal? The Chaun is puzzled to chin-knuckling.
The only solution/cause that is readily evident to the Chaun is either the predominence of fascist dictatorships or the strange infatuation that the people there have with Islam, though the Chaun fails to see why religion should really ever come into trade and developement. This being said, the Chaun continues to wonder when this Islamic fad will fall away...

I dont like the middle east cause i heard that they are bad people and just want to kill babies. But thats justa rumor thats been going around the internet.
i ate at a middle eastern place once called Applebeas and it is now the best resterant int he niehghboor.
