You'd think Tom Cruise might ruin it, cuz you can't get much more American than Tom Cruise, and America is basically most things opposite from Japan. But he actually does a good job of acting and manages not to slaughter the Japanese language.

well, since tom cruise is playing an american, i dont think it would matter much. but this movie is supposed to be awesome. the previews looked great, the reviews were good, and the portion of japanese history that it takes place in is really interesting. ive heard that it reminds a lot of people of "dances with wolves"

well Tom Cruise is a pretty good actor. MOst of his movies are good, so ill check this one out i suppose. I didn't think it was out yet though.

dont even pay attention to movie reviews by detroit new/free press. they blow, the reviewer had a beef against "cowboy bebop: the movie" also. somehow he was reminded of pokemon, stupid asshole.
how exactly is this movie supposed to racist? ebert said it was like "dances with wolves" in that it appreciates the a foreign culture (dances with wolves=indian, last samarai=japanese) and enlightens the viewer on it

If you want to see a movie, see it at a Star Theater before 6 PM and it's only 6 bucks, and there won't be anoying jackasses with cell phones and loud people yelling at the screen. As far as this movie is concerened, I don't like Tom Cruise. Never did, never will. I don't think he deserves this role. I guess he's better than Collin Ferrel though... |
