Evil Dead had lame-ass special effects, crappy acting and a preety stupid plot. And it managed to scare the crap out of me.

if gross counts as scary then you might want to check out the Night of the Living Dead trilogy. omg i have never seen such scary movies in my entire life. the quotes in it are creepy as hell. George A. Romero was the man who directed these movies. it think he come up the idea for them too. for me it doesn't get much scarier than zombies. its just so scary but intrigueing at the same time becuase you begin to wonder how it all started, where it started, why it started. and what the outcome was. because at the end of the third part of the series (day of the dead) not much happens except that u see a lot of zombies. i could say more about it but i don't want to give it away. the second part in the series (dawn of the dead and the third part (day of the dead) probably have some of the most gut renching "eating" scenes that i have ever witnessed. advice to you: if u get grossed out or even get sick from excessive amounts of blood, gore, and vicious mauling/brutality then skip these movies because they will be the end of you (examples are people literally being torn apart at the waste by hungry ass zombies that eat their intestines while the person is still screaming to death as his eyeballs are being clawed at and eaten.

yeah, i definitely prefer psych-out horror to grossout films, which i have cleverly dubbed "gorror" (and if it turns out that i wasnt in fact the first person to come up with that, then my apologies to whatever moviegoer out there who did). as such, i think vampires & demons (reference back to exorcist. see it, love it) are scarier than zombies, just because they represent such pure evil. of course, id probably be more visually affected by disgusting movies like these living dead films....yech....

Yea I am not a fan of movies with no plot and just guts guts and some gore.

Suspence horror is the way to go I tell ya.

yeh the exorcist was pretty cool. but i would have to disagree with scariness going to the demon type movie. maybe its just me but a bunch of rotting corpses chased me so they could tear me apart while i watched seems pretty damn frightening to me. and very few scary movies have a decent plot
