Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed the gradual degradation of quality in the band that was at one time good, Green Day?

for some reason everyone seems to think "oh the new stuff is bad" about most bands, its almost like a trend. to me they are mostly always the same, except blink 182 and such. and I think they got much worse actually, thier only talent was being funny and they don't even do it anymore. every person has thier own unique touch they put on music and if its the same people playing chances are they won't change a whole lot. green day is pretty much the same in my opinion, maybe a little more "serious" though. to me the actual music sounds pretty similar but it's hard to have a band for so many years and not change your sound at all...I don't think they've changed a whole lot only a little in a few places.

really, i think they "matured" in the topic of their songs, but american idiot could have been placed on any of the albums, the music is the same

I agree with Ben. I have no idea how to spell this, but Bouvlevard of Broken Dreams is a pretty good song, but they're older stuff is a lot better. I didn't like American Idiot that much.

i once heard someone say that if you want people to think you konw about music, just say you like the old stuff, and the new stuff isnt as good. no ever likes the new stuff until newer stuff comes

yeah, that seems to be the trend with message boards and shit. if you just say everyone is selling out and their older stuff is the best, well, it may be true, but that's just what every single person says. i choose to speak honestly. it doesn't make sense to go out and buy new stuff if you tend not to like the newer material bands put out. then there is a small but more annying crowd who only likes the new stuff. This is usually the case with some Metallica fans. liking St. Anger but not liking Master of Puppets or the Black Album is just plain idiocy.
im listening to Whatsername right now...sweet
