Come on people, who's with me? Opeth rocks your socks, and you know it, just as soon as you can get used to the vocals like I did.

No, the vocals on Damnation are just dandy, but have you heard the ones on, say, Blackwater Park, or Advent? In fact, download those two songs i just named, they're a couple of the best all-time Opeth songs ever in existence. And to all those who don't know who they are, damn ye to the pits of Hell!

Advent, probly my favorite song of theirs forever.
You gotta be kinda patient with their music though, as most of their songs are 11-14 minutes long. I think the longest one is Black Rose Immortal, at 20 minutes.

ive heard of them plenty. but are they like a dark jam band or something? cause castelli likes them, so i figure they gotta be some form of jam, and i know you like Tool-ish type stuff (beleth) so i figured its gotta be some kind of Tool/Phish mix.

I can personally only describe them best as acoustic folk/death metal, if that makes any sense. Their trademark is starting out as soft, sweet acoustic melodies that can calm even the most savage beast, and then turning into that very savage beast and pumping out nut-busting vocal-cord-destroying death metal, sometimes within the course of a single measure. Overall, the package as a whole is kickass. They've got cool song names too, like The Twilight is My Robe, Under the Weeping Moon, and Into the Frost of Winter.
Recommended download list:
Advent Deliverence The Apostle in Triumph The Drapery Falls Dirge For November The Leper Affinity Bleak
Expect a long download time if you don't have a cable modem, every one of these songs is about 11-14 minutes long. Dirge for November is the exception, being only a puny 8 minutes.
