I'm sure everybody has one, so what is that one song that just seems to touch you?
for me it is live's lightning crashes, and REM's everybody hurts
those songs are amazing.

"Eat the Meek" and "The Decline" both by NoFX. Ok, so thats two songs that move me. They don't move me in the traditional way, but they make me look at life and society and shake my head.

I'm a dork, I don't care, I have a whole list of them, and just thinking of them gives me goosebumps all over:
the songs finishing each Lord of the Rings movie - May it Be, Gollum's Song, and Into the West (which better win best song this year, or so help me God ... )
Apocalyptica's version of Nothing Else Matters is a masterpiece, and does weird things to me every time I hear it
More well-known songs (for the most part) that get to me are: The Offspring - Gone Away Five Iron Frenzy - Dandelions, Ugly Day, All Good Things Barenaked Ladies - When You Dream Flogging Molly - If I Ever Leave This World Alive Dispatch - The General, Two Coins, Out Loud Korn - Daddy - the intro, not so much the rest of the song, and Shoots and Ladders Marcy Playground - A cloak of Elvenkind - the first time I heard it it was performed by a young man with an acoustic guitar, and it was all the more powerful Cake - Mexico Evanescence - My Immortal - currently being ran into the ground by the fucking goddamn machine that is popular radio
The theme music from Star Trek: First Contact is also quite moving, it manages to be triumphant and sad at once.
If you want to know more about any of these songs I strongly urge you to go buy the albums they're on, as each and every one is a gem well worth owning. I'm sure there will be more to come.

Basically, just about anything by Bright Eyes or OAR. There's a few other random songs, but I can't really come up with any of them at the moment.

Indeed, Hurt is a great song. I have a couple more to add:
Butterfly - I'm not sure who did this originally, it's on Weezer's Pinkerton and it's a secret track on an Ataris cd, I believe (anyway, great song) The Beatles - Here Comes the Sun (more so now that George Harrison has passed on), Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby, Something The Stampeders - Sweet City Woman Led Zeppelin - The Battle of Evermore, Stairway to Heaven Pink Floyd - The Day the Tigers Broke Free, Bike, and of course Wish You Were Here Don MacLean - American Pie, Vincent (unfortunately, I first heard that song sung by Josh Groban, and he did well with it but MacLean's is the original)
What I should probably have just said is that music deeply affects me, and that if it's good and it's meant to invoke those kind of feelings it probably will. Music done right is something to live, suffer, and die for.

Kyuss - Capsized
It's only like 56 seconds long, but hear it and you'll know exactly what the hell I mean.

-NIN or Johnny Cash - Hurt (I like the tone and lyrics of both versions) That is a moving song. I prefer Johnny Cash's version (imagine that), but I guess I don't like NIN.
