I'm ambivalent. Most of their songs sound the same to me (heavy guitar part plus scratchy noises plus rapping/screaming,) but some of their songs are pretty good, I guess. I don't really care either way, but I guess I'd lean towards "No." But not enough to vote it.

I remember buying their CD Hybrid theory after it came out. I liked it. That was before MTV raped them and what not. I dunno, but my musical tastes have changed and i just dont really like them at all anymore.

just a word of warning, the second this topic turns flamey, it is getting the lock. not because of me taking personal offense, but because there have been about five topics that were solely on Linkin Park and they quickly turned into a hatefest. Besides, it never gets us anywhere anyways.
i like linkin park, as you all know. i really don't care what people think about that, because people disagree with tastes and styles of music all the time, no big deal.
oh yeah, its a yes for me.

From One Step Closer: "shut up when I'm talking to you shut up shut up shut up shut up when I'm talking to you shut up shut up shut up shut up I’m about to break" Some good quality stuff. They seem kinda like Rage, only Rage did it 100 times better. And the led singer needs to get rid of those emo glasses, not cool. /end rant

Yes, he (the guy in Linkin Park) got one of those glasses because someone told them they were cool and the band would make more money and sales and stupid chicks if he wore them. So he did. and Thus began the more money, sales and stupid chicks (well, all of them arnt stupid, but most of em b/c they listen to whatever MTV tells them to listen too. But people like David really like them and people like him deserve the non-stupid award).
And this is in no way "spammy." I think as long as we stay on the topic of the band, it wont be in any way spammy.

I'm not sure what the history is on his glasses, considering I completely don't give a fuck when it comes to shit like that (i tend to follow the music, not the trends or fasion statements) but I appreciate the complement, will. this edition of the linkin park topics is going fine, but that seemed to be the case with all of them. usually around the second or third page they all turned to a flame-war.

Yea,I am pretty sure we can stay on topic,it seems the hate gang is what destroyed the others.
Also what is up with ReAnimation?A new band with one album says hey lets take all of our songs and let other people tear them apart. They pretty got a tribute album after ONE album. That is just damn ridiculous.Either that or maybe they thought they were original when a million djs do it all the time.
And that Chester guy,I dislike his voice as well and Mr.Spiky's voice.
Grrrr,maybe I take too many shots...maybe I don't...
/end o rant

Indeed, a tribute album directly following a debut is foolish. I just lost more respect for Linkin Park. All the same I didn't put in a vote because I don't think I can go one way or the other.
Some of their stuff I will say has ideas I think are pretty good, but the whole part where noise comes out of people's mouths in their music is not good. The singer's technique ... very much bad. I'd go into technicality but no one else here is likely to care. And the rapping ... I really think it's unnecessary. If you want to talk along with music then ... go be a rapper.

ok, if you want a debate fine, if you want a real debate, then you need some facts. Their first album did really great on the charts and it sold a shitload, and there was a big crowd of people that liked them because they basically just came out of nowhere, and they were this revolutionary band. (i kind of disagree with most people on that one, what they did has been going on for years and i have no real explanation to why they got so big. must be something along the lines of what Will was thinking, and some little emo girls with all their bracelets liked them, who knows)
Since they are influenced by the electronic side of music, a genre which shares/borrows/ and sometimes steals techniques off fellow artists, a ton of popular and some underground artist friends of Linkin Park wanted to put their own spin on LP's songs. Since they only released a handful of songs, there wasn't much to work with, so that's why the album Reanimation looks like a crappy clone when compared to Hybrid Theory. But the mistake was not in asking other people to do a tribute album right after their debut, the trouble was tons upon tons of people wanted to do a 'tribute' to them and they finally gave in and said yes. they felt that if the demand was there, why not give their fellow artists a chance to express how this 'new' form of music affected people. Hell, some people like Reanimation better than Hybrid Theory. To me, I look at Reanimation as a second version of all the Hybrid Theory songs.

First off let's clear something up,sales mean NOTHING.People are stupid and will buy stupid stuff.I mean, how many CDs has Brittney sold(I don't care how to spell her name)? And they are not revolutionary one bit. They are a cross between 311 and the Stone Temple Pilots... no maybe Korn mixed with the Deftones, wait no maybe Pearl Jam and Soundgarden,oh and add in Rage...Not original in any way.

first of all, if sales dont matter, what does then? sales reflect popularity which reflects what people like, and that is what we are talking about.
secondly, almost all those bands you listed were around linkin park's early days, so they didn't really have any effect on them. what i was refering to was that rock/metal/electronic/ and pop have all meshed together before, in many many different groups.
and by you saying they aren't revolutionary is supporrting what i said. i said a lot of people like htem because they think that LP is revolutionary, and i dont think that because the collaboration of genres has been done many many times before, i guess they just make it more bold or something. i dont know what linkin park's key to success is.
