Well, I took some time off the BotW to give away cd's. So now...here we go.
Band: Moneen
Sound: Punk Rock....but a little slower and maybe darker
Newest Record: "Are we really happy with who we are right now?" -Vagrant Records
Info: Nice little band that is on Vagrant Records, with big bands like Alkaline Trio, Dashboard Confessional, From Autumn To Ashes (*cough*)SUX!!, The Get Up Kids, Hot Rod Circuit, No Motiv, Reggie And The Full Effect, and Saves the Day. Thier uniquely long-named songs have balanced music with vocals that don't include that ugly screaming that a lot of today's bands have.
MysteriousMan's Comments: I bought this cd not knowing anything about them at all, and now they are one of my favorite bands. Their music reminds me of Alkaline Trio, a little dark but definetly catchy, and their moderate use of guitar effects helps a lot. The vocals are not annoying at all, and I believe this adds to the flow. Although they can be technically classified as punk or rock, you could definetly sit back and relax to this stuff. I could see where some people could call this emo, but those people would be the same people that call Alkaline Trio emo and Linkin Park a boy band (aka, people that don't know anything about classifying music into genres). Oh, and the cd booklet has a little paragraph that describes what the song is about, which I personally love because half the time I can't figure out what the hell is going on, death, love, money, stuff like this all melts together, and Moneen wants their listeners to get the messages in their songs right away. Bands like this work hard to please their fans, and to please themselves. I say give them a shot, what's the worst that could happen?
Songs to check out for those that are interested:
*Start Angry....End Mad (my personal fav)
*Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now? (title track)
With This Song I Will Destroy Myself
To Say Something That Means Nothing to Anyone at All
Closing My Eyes Won't Help Me Leave
