I like both types because they're both great in their own ways. Classic rock is cool though because of all of the great guitarists back in the day.

Yea I like both.
But since I have grown up with more modern stuff and listen to more modern stuff I would have to go with modern.
I like recent stuff, minus Linkin Park and Deftones and pretty much anything on the radio.

I like both, almost equally. Heres why.
I like classic rock and blues because they are so perfect, it is like their talent both vocal and instrumental are something that today's musicians cannot come close to playing. Sure, they can play the same notes, but they don't have the soul classic music had.
On the other hand, I feel that modern music has the ability to develop new things, not exactly better things, just new things that I haven't heard yet.
That's my view, because I like both types. I guess I like modern more because I have memories of it, like, I remember waiting for these CDs to come out and listening to radio shows where they played the new songs a week early, just for the fans that stayed up late just so they could hear it. The classic music memories that I have all involve my parents and their record player or listening to the classic rock radio stations up north. Ugh, the late eighties....heh, good times, and bad times.

ok...classic rock like aerosmith and ac/dc?
what is that?
AC/DC is not classic rock...i think it was best put by dr. adult "AC/DC is dumb rock, not bad just dumb"...
this is because it is very simple, a very re used chord alternation pattern, very common simple drums, and simple singing...i mean i love AC/DC but its very simple...classic rock is very fine tuned music.
Aerosmith is not classic rock at all, they did songs with RUN DMC...how is that classic at all?
i would think classic rock - Lynard Skynard, Zepplin, The Who, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Hendrix, Cream, Yardbirds, Animals, Doors, Rolling stones...

I'm really not into very many "classic" rock bands. I definitely appreciate them, but most of them are not my style.

Classic has nothing to do with who you perform with, (that part is the art side of music) and simplicity means nothing at all, NOTHING. AC/DC used simple power chords a lot, yes. But they used them for a reason. Power chords are used for power (dur) that is, up until a few years ago when all of a sudden power chords are stupid and unoriginal. Well jeeze, I'm sorry if I'm using the most powerful formation of notes in all of music theory in order to convey my message of powerful music, I will have to change it to something more complicated just so my sound will be more original - phuck that. AC/DC used power chords before they "sucked" end of story.

okay...i wasnt saying anything bad about AC/DC or their power chords, i think its great...im just saying its not classic rock...i never said it was stupid or unoriginal, they did an incredible job with the composing of their songs, it did not take an extreme amount of talent to play the music, but it was still great music, so they did a great job with it, im just saying i dont classify it as classic rock...thats all...
