I need to hear some stuff about Rap......What do u guys like about it? Everyone has to like Rap. If not Rap at least R & B.

as a whole; i do not like the rap, r&b, and hip hop genres. there are some individual artists and songs that i do like, but not many.

I like some rap and most R&B and hip-hop. It's pretty much all that people listen to out here anyway.

i hate to say it (not because im embarrassed, but because it will raise so much crap about how they suck and all from the people on the boards that choose not to follow the rules) but Linkin Park is about as close to rap as i get. I like a few Outkast songs, though. I dunno, rap is ok, though. I dont hate it.

Yeah Prizzy you need to open the door a litle bit more. I cannot disagree with by saying the LINKIN PARK does not relate to Rap but the is not "real" rap.

yeah, its true linkin park blows, just because a group has emotion in their music doesnt mean theyre good. thatts it for my "LP" critique. but gorillaz isnt rap, Del tha Funkee Homosapien is rap, but not gorillaz.

gorillaz is rap. rap is talking fast to a beat...period. Thats how it started and thats how it is now. Of course now the beats are usually synthesized and for some of the rap there is a lot of profanity that doesn't make sense.
I like some rap, mostly that which has real music behind it. Some other rap songs are funny and so i listen to them.
For R&B, i don't like it at all. I mean its good singing, but its ALL the same thing. Bands or singers should have diversity, b/c thats what makes one group stand out.

My personal feelings about music is that a good song, instrumently, should comsist of a guitar, a bass guitar, and drums as the base instruments. Rap, R&B, and Hip Hop do not fit into this category. By the property of transitivity (RAWHIDE!) I must say that none of these genres fit my liking. I won't say that they suck however. There are a select few artists that I'll listen to, however most of this stuff is on my list of things not to listen to.

But its got 2 rap songs in it doesn't it. So that would classify them as at least producing some rap. Where did u get that i hate someone because they're black dude? What the hell? Opera?) rap is not profanity and synthesized beats (psychadellic rock?) and Gorrilaz is a sweet rythm blues band (which has little ties to rap) that has a gues rapper in its first album...its an awesome mix and even has some progressive/industrial rock...great lyrics and an incredible tone given to each song... also...rythm and blues, rythm is not rap, blues is not rap, they share similar tones or additudes (not counting the gangsta or profanity)...but they are seperate sounds...i consider Hendrix rythm blues, or doors harmonic blues, or zepplin progressive rythm mod. blues...so its a very complex cycle for me to label bands styles...it take it seriously and work hard on it...but the common idea of RandB is a common version of sould or rap with hip hop...i hate hip hop for the most and most rap (i love beastie boys, run dmc, and J5 not rap to me...) so there are exceptions, but i would not say i am a fan of rap... finally...everyone check out gorrilaz they kick butt! |

yes gorillaz is awesome, and have good stuff. But they do have rap songs, 2 of them so im told. So they aren't primarily rap, and you can rightly classify them by the majority of their music. But all i am saying is that they do have rap songs. Mainstream rap these days is mostly that hip hop stuff which i don't particularly like.
Rap is talking fast, to a beat. OF course all music has a beat, but rap occurs in all songs where someone talks (not sings) rhythmically. That is just called rap. A lot of people use rap to mean hip hop, but rap as its original self is talking rhythmically.
