To sell out...define:
- To only make music for the money (can this really happen, wouldnt one become a bank robber then?)
- To change music sound to fit popular consensus (this lowers grade and quality of music to fit all appreceations...but any outstanding aspects are lost to average out the appreceation)
- A dumb term to make a reason to hate bands that go to MTV (this is what i see it as, Rolling Stones, Hendrix, Zepplin, Doors, Beatles, all were on equivilents of that era's MTV)
- What did the fish say when he swam into a wall? "dam"

I guess if you make music only for the money, putting the fans and music behind on your priority list, then you will be a sell-out, and if not, then worse. Also, if you are a good band and then change your style and nobody likes you after you change because you lose your originality, then yeah, sell-out.

You sell out if you change your sound for more money. Like the goo goo dolls, but they always sucked. Also doing endorsements for big name products that you don't like for the money. Selling outis not slang for sucking.

Also, if you are a good band and then change your style and nobody likes you after you change because you lose your originality, then yeah, sell-out. i dont neccessarily agree with that statement. If a band changes their style cause they think theyll make more money that way, then its selling out. But if they change their style because they genuinly want to try something new and have some fun, then its not selling out.

but the irony in that is that the song was written to mock sell outs...and it could be called a sell out itself due to its idea of mocking media to gain popularity...i dont think they would have normally written a song...

Haha, thats kind of what i meant, but i didnt say it right. thanks for correcting me so more people dont get the wrong impression. I meant to say if they change because they think it will get them more money. Sorry evernyone, and thanks mark.
