Got the idea from six's "last cd you bought" thread. What was the last concert, show, jam session, whatever that you went to.
Thinkin back, mine would have to be a local band (local to Utica, Michigan) Things About Nothing at a local (Utica again) record shop for their record release party. It was cool cause they were a nice band, then they would just break down into a hardcore, mosh like crazy thing, and it was this tiny little room and we broke the walls and couches and stuff. Like the room was built to hold about forty, and we had about seventy people in there, moshing and partying. the band was pushed back in this tiny corner, trying to jump up and down without landing on someones head or hand or body. it was a scrumdiddlyumptious show due to the fact that it was FREE. ;D

y last two shows have been Tool concerts, and holy shit they were amazing. It starts off with the entire arena going completely pitch-black. Of course, everyone goes cmpletely berserk at this point, and you can't hear anything but these unearthly sounds coming from out of the darkness. These freakish groans go on for about 5 minutes, and still the band doesn't appear on stage. 10 minutes, and it's still totally black, and the noises are only getting louder. Idiots in the audience start shouting out "Come on already, start the fucking concert!". A bit longer, and the sounds start changing, and become recognizable. It turns out that they were actually horrifyingly distorted guitar riffs, and soon they turn in to the intro of one of their 10-minute long songs, and everyone just goes totally goddamn bonkers. ON two giant screens above the stage, arcane symbols and frightening images start flashing, and on a smaller screen a ring of flaming eyes. In front of the screen is the lead singer, and he's the only member that is able to be seen, the others are still shrouded in shadow. When the intro ends and the song erupts in to its full loudness and glory, every light trick ever concieved by mankind erupts into your retina, and your mind orgasms. It goes on like this for over two hours, and it never gets tiring. Changed my goddamn life.

The last concert i went to was in October. It was Dashboard COnfessional at the State. This was probably my least favorite concert i have attended. I had seen Dashboard the year before and loved them, but this time it was a totally different experience. I was in the audience with kids who didnt know most of the songs (which is alright, that doesnt bother me), and they all had attitudes. I'm sorry, but ignorent rich kids from deep suburbia should not be allowed Downtown if they are going to make crude, uneducated remarks about Detroit.
Anywho, the concert as a whole was alright. MXPX sounded nice, and Brand New was there also to open. I forgot the name of the first band that went on stage but they were the best of all.
Also, i dont know how to describe it, but Dashboard COnfessional just isnt one of my favorite bands anymore. Not only have my tastes changed, but i just dont enjoy going to a concert with people who label themselves as "emo" and never get over anything in their lives. This does not mean that i do not mean that i dont think the band is talented, but i think you know what i mean.

Alkaline Trio, Reggie and the Full Effect, No Motiv, and the worst band ever (Scott, Carrier, and Dave know what I mean.) Back in November at the State Theater. Damn balcony.

The Donnas, Reel Big Fish, and OK Go (playing in opposite order) came to BGSU. For some stupid reason the Donnas were the headliners, and they played way too goddamn loud, but not the other two, they both kicked ass. I left after the first couple of songs by The Donnas, it was too damn loud (I know, I'm an old man, blah blah blah) and I had stuff to do. I was not nearly the only one to leave, about half the people there left before I did and I wasn't the last.
Now I realize that I would make great sacrifices to see TOOL in concert. Holy shit, Beelzebub, you rock my world.
