It seems to me that Linkin Park has a lot of fans, but also a great number of people who flat out hate them.
Personally I like them because their music is somewhat unique, with screaming (of course) but also singing, good guitar, good effects too. I have "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" and I didn't bother to pick up "Reanimation". My favorite song by them is the instrumental "Cure for the Itch" on "Hybrid Theory".
Do you folks like/dislike LP?

I am not a fan.
But I think they owe most of their success to Limp Bizkit(sp...I dunno). If it wasn't for LB then the whole rap metal what have you would have never been big, hence LP not getting big.
But I'm not a fan of rap metal in general,it's not my style.

Ok....first off, Linkin Park has absolutely nothing to do with Limp Bizkit. Linkin Park is a great band compared to LB. Linkin Park is the most original band I have ever heard, largely because they blend hip-hop, rock, a little metal, and pop all into one new category. Plus, their large group size and the fact that they have a DJ in the group allows them to synthesize and make any sound or beat possible. They are not as influential as past artists such as Zeppelin or Hendrix and their guitar is simple as hell, but when they all come together they are one of the best bands in the modern world. And the fact that they have two singers, one screamo/pop and one rap/rock they can basically do anything lyrically and musically.

Yeah, in my opinion, as a guitarist, i think their guitar riffs and style suck major ass. their drumming is pretty ok, and their singing is great, but as a band, they are pretty damn good. It just goes to show you dont have to be good at guitar to have a great band/song.

but compare them to the who
one of best guitarists ever best bassist ever best drummer ever and a "good looking" singer (he was hired for a front man of the band) and a great producer

by saying the who has the best guitarist and best bassist, you are stating your own opinion. some (most) people will argue that Hendrix, SRV, Page & Plant, and many many many others are better guitarists. Still others will argue countless bass players etc. that are better. You can't compare a band you only like to your favorite band that you love. It is totally in your opinion. Besides, LP has a good guitarist in that he is talented, but in their songs that they write he writes the dumbest riffs that don't even contribute to the song much.

Well I am not saying LB is good, but LP took a lot from their book.LB blended hip hop, rap, rock, and metal, and even did a pop song cover or two.And they had a DJ,DJ Lethal from House of Pain(think 'Jump Around').The only think LB didn't have that LP does is the second singer. I'm not saying either one is better, just that I doubt LP would have seen have as much air time if it wasn't for LB. Damn LB and LP look the same.(the letters not the band mind you)

I dunno, in my opinion and many others Linkin Park is more poppy and upbeat while Limp Bizkit is more metal and dark stuff like that. I know because I listen to both groups' music. Limp Bizkit, I would say, is like rap, dirtier and more metal than anything Linkin Park can make. Linkin Park is more poppy and hip-hoppy, cleaner and such. To me its like two opposite sides of one genre. If you call it a pop/rap/hip-hop/rock/metal genre, then Linkin Park is on the lighter side and Limp Bizkit is on the darker side. Sure Limp Bizkit covered some slower songs, but still, that doesn't change what music they play all the other times they aren't covering songs.

hey...i didnt say the who had the best guitarist...i said one of them...i will also say paige is better than he...and eric clapton...and hendrix on the top...but john entwistle is with out a doubt the best bassist...really...and keith moon is the best drummer...anyway...linkin park only has good writing...not good artists...similar to the white stipes...its mostly the attitude...style...and writing...not the skills

Linkin Park has some good songs, music-wise. The beats and guitar sounds and synthesized stuff is great when its all put together. If you pay attention to the lyrics and the themes of the songs (if one is actually present) many are about the same kind of thing. But they are a great band to play at parties and stuff where the music should just sound great and not necessarily be too deep about anything.
