I'll be writing a review for this soon, what with the lack of much school next week. For now, read this review, and you'll know why I like this game. www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages3/561353.aspWhy did I make this thread? Whenever theres a new review up, it gets a thread. I guess this is a preview.. Or I just felt like making a thread. Long story short... review soon!

That may not be necessary...I've heard from several sources now that it sucks.

Yes... and many sources probably did not play the game for more than 10 minutes.
On the surface, you have a pretty average game here. After a bit of play (around an hour,) I couldn't stop playing. After awhile, I realized how great the level designs are, how solid the control and game engine are, and how much fun it is. You don't even need to know what a warhammer is to enjoy this, the developers made sure that it plays very much like every other shooter on the market (mostly like Halo, I guess.)
But I guess this game is hit or miss. I read many reviews calling this terrible, but a few (the one I linked to and 2 others) called this game great. We get alot of FPSs these days, and most reviewers are pretty anxious to slap down a score and go play something else. Overall, this game is vastly underrated.

I played the demo, and enjoyed it.Sure,it didn't do too much different that any other FPS in that one level, but it wasn't bad,and it was fun.I'll rent it sooner or later.

I must re-iterate the point: Fire Warrior kicks total ass! It might seem average to those not indoctrinated to Warhammer 40K but if you are ... it'll feel a lot different than a tabletop game and not translate very well. I must say I agree with the linked review, the sound helps a great deal. Who would have thought a game with no background music could work? They should all be like that (by they I mean FPSs).

I play Warhammer 40k, Tau actually (the army the main character is a part of, for those of you who don't play 40k). I was thinking about getting it for PC, since I don't have a ps2. A few things stopped me: bad reviews, the fact that all other video games based on Games Workshop games also got bad reviews, and the fact that I prefer console shooters to pc shooters (yes, we do exist) especially considering my pc isn't all that great at gaming. Instead, I just got some shooters for my Xbox for about the same cost of firewarrior.

If you live around here and feel like it, I guess a game could be arranged. In case you would like to know, I play Imperial Guard (about 2500-3000 points including both regiments,) Ork Speed Freeks (1500 points) and Ulthwe Strike Force (about 1200 points.) Yeah, this game got trashed by most reviewers. I am under the belief that most of the reviewers did not play the whole game. GW games have been bad in the past, unfortunetly, and reviewers probably didn't play with an open mind.

It seems like lots of people who review a game don't play much of it. All the time on ebgames.com I see a reviewer say (type?) they played it for 10 minutes then traded it, and gave it 1 star. Of course these aren't professionals. Maybe the game would've gotten better reviews if the reviewers played 40k? I don't know, maybe GW games should just stay on the table and in print. I wonder how Warhammer Online will turn out.

Reviews of 10 minutes of video games are a waste of more things than I care to list right here. While it is possible that 40K players might give Fire Warrior better reviews and would be more likely to own/have played all the way through it, it's a great game with or without background knowledge beforehand. Two great games in a row would be unprecedented for the Warhammer universe, the number of consumer whore players it would probably attract would be astounding ... but i digress. Fire Warrior kicks ass.
