Final Fantasy VII was/is definately my favorite followed by X, VIII, and Tactics. IX sucked in my opinion.

i kinda feel left out, im in the middle of games in ff 7, 9, 10, and the original, plus chrono trigger also. i like all of them, but i get distracted in the middle of them, especially if i have to rent them to play.

Hate to rain on the parade, but I really can't play VII. I've tried to lately, and its just not appealing at all. I would blame it on the graphics, but I finished IX fine (and VIII was good while I was playing, though a bad disc kept me from continuing).
And Final Fantasy Tactics shouldn't really count in this, since it really is a completely different type of game. Yes, I know it says "Final Fantasy" in the title, but look at it this way: FFXI is VERY different from its predecessors, yet at least it got a number. FFT is like a spinoff, and thus shouldn't even be considered in the same vein.
But anyways, I say the order (from what I've played) goes:
FFX FFIX FFVIII FFVII
Seems like they get better with age

No tactics (yet), and I've never heard of ANY FF games for GCN (If there are some, enlighten me) All I've ever played is FF:Mystic Quest fr SNES(before it died of natural causes)... and that's IT. So, you just count your blessings, and remember that Mystic Quest completely sucks...

GCN is getting FF: Crystal Chronicles, but that plays more like Gauntlet than it does a normal FF. Nintendo people are screwed.

Not to mention you need the GBAs and the GCN to GBA hook ups...

What!? Are you sure? I've never heard of any game that needed a GBA hook-up for normal play... Only for extras, like in Windwaker and Metroid Prime... Is it a necessity, or an extra?

Yes, in order to play with multiple players, you have to use the GBA...

And yes, FFT is a Final Fantasy. Sure, the battle system was changed, but it was changed for FFX, and that’s still a FF. It also contained all the spell names, summons, jobs, terminology, etc. of a FF. It even had Cloud in it as a secret character. Plus you can’t call it a spin-off story wise, because every FF has a different story. And yes, FF VIII had a cool ending, too bad the final boss had half a dozen forms, all with ridiculous amounts of HP. That was like a 30 minute fight.
Oh, wait a second. Squanto is banned, and therefore cannot reply to such a thing. Oh well. Screw it.

Oh, wait a second. Squanto is banned, and therefore cannot reply to such a thing. Oh well. Screw it. He posted that in October, well before his bannishment. I'm with Miles on this one. No FF's for me. Except Tactics Advance, which is quite fun. As far as Crystal Chronicals goes, it looks pretty cool. You can play alone with a standard GC controller, and some sort of "computer player" (as none people players are refered to) will perform necessary teamwork options. But to play with 2+ players, a GBA and GC/GBA link is needed for each player. But who doesn't have a GBA? And those cables are only about $10...

Good going Drizzle Boy. The Chaun now sees you as a heretic AND a conformist. FFX is probably #3 on my list after 7 and 8. And 9 sucked, by the way.
Oh yes, the Chaun would like to point out that X-2 comes out today, so if anyone needs the Chaun, the Chaun will be at your nearest Toys 'R Us.
And lay off of the laugh scene. If you actually pay attention to the dubbing job, it sucks and ruins the whole effect. So stop the nit picking and enjoy.
