Minorites need not apply, whites only. Normally, I wouldn't consider this racist since they're so many minority only scholarships out there. The application process though is soo....stupid! In the application, you have to write an essay about how much you like your "whiteness" and submit a picture as proof of your identity.
What's your opinion? Is this going too far? Is a big deal being made out of nothing?

That seems like it may be going to far. I can understand having a scholarship for whites since there many minority schloarships, but writing about how much you love your whiteness is just kinda childish. This sounds like the orginization that has created this scholarship just has a chip on there shoulder agianst other ehtnicities and there only way to get at them is to spite them with something like this.

i think theyre trying to prove a point. there shouldnt be any scholarships based on your ethnicity or color of your skin. it's ridicolous. A non-colored scholarship is no more racist than the United Negro College Fund (same initials as UNICEF,haha).

If "Black History Month" isn't racist (which it isn't,) then a white-only scholarship isn't either. But it is immature, in this case, as is exists only to spite other scholarships. If every minority and majority can have a scholarship, what would the point be?

Hmm... It is any more racist than other ethnicity orientated scholarships. Except for how you have to write about how you like your "whiteness." You would be writing about how whites are better than other ethnic groups, which is racist.

They may be trying to prove a point, true. But if there weren't any racial/religious scholarships out there, a lot of people wouldn't be able to afford college, not with all of the "genius's" in education. Tuition has gone up.

well, if people can give scholarships for only minorities then they can give one only open to whites. the stupidity of the application process doesnt matter. though i think these race-based scholarships are all pretty stupid

i don't think that a white only scholarship is racist. I'm black and i was going scholarship hunting and there was a scholarship that wanted you to write about how you admire being black and why you wouldn't change your skin tone. It's pretty similar to this one. I personally think that it neither of these scholarships are racist at all

Race-based scholarships shouldn't exist. There should be money or need-based scholarships based on strong students that can't afford to attend. You have to look at it this way. Race-based scholarships are worthless. The only reason they exist is because there is a large percentage of minorities that 1. don't have enough money/income 2. aren't as strong academically as majorities. Plain and simple. So only need-based scholarships should be given out. And in a sense, minority scholarships are racist against "majorities".
