Woman Dies Following 'Passion' Screening Wednesday, February 25, 2004 WICHITA, Kan. — A woman collapsed Wednesday during a screening of "The Passion of the Christ" and later died at a hospital.
The Wichita Eagle identified the woman as Peggy Law Scott, 57. No cause of death was immediately available.
Scott was attending a 9:30 a.m. showing of the movie with some co-workers from Clear Channel Radio when she collapsed about 20 minutes before the end of the movie.
KAKE-TV, which was filming a story on local reactions to the film, reported that Scott collapsed during the film's bloody crucifixion scene.
Two medical professionals who were at the movie tried to revive Scott, said Ken Crockett, a spokesman for Warren Theatres.
Emergency dispatchers said they responded to a report of a woman who wasn't breathing and might be having a seizure.
Scott was taken to the St. Joseph campus of Via Christi Regional Medical Center. Roz Hutchinson, a spokeswoman for the hospital, confirmed the death.
An autopsy will be conducted on Thursday, according to a spokeswoman for Sedgwick County.
Scott was the general sales manager for KRZZ and KKRD radio stations.

It's a little creepy that the lady died. I just came back from "Passions" and I have to say I was touched. I'm not christian at all but I respect other people's rights to believe in their own religions and such. I believe that one way to better know another person is to familiarize yourself with the things that are important to them.. like religion. A lot of my friends are Christian and in a slight way I now sort of understand their devotion. It is so sad how cruel the Romans? were to Jesus. I cried because he was a person (kinda) just like the rest of us and should not have been treated that way. I hope everyone goes and sees it, religious or not. And if you find it crappy (as some have) well then so be it, but at least you took the time to try and understand another person's struggle that created a devout following.

It is so sad how cruel the Romans? were to Jesus. Yes it was the Romans, and nobody should have to be treated that way. Also the poor fella who played Jesus got struck by lighting twice while on the cross, and when he was being beaten they missed the place to hit(a special pad on his back) twice,so he must know what it's like now.

i don't believe that someone could survive being struck by lightning twice or if that would even happen....the odds are so low.
but if it did happen maybe it's a sign from God...?

(interview with James Caviezel, NEWSWEEK) You got struck by lightning? Oh, yeah. We were shooting the Sermon on the Mount. About four seconds before it happened it was quiet, and then it was like someone slapped my ears. I had seven or eight seconds of, like, a pink, fuzzy color, and people started screaming. They said I had fire on the left side of my head and light around my body. All I can tell you is that I looked like I went to Don King's hairstylist.
:-) grrrreat movie

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Since you're not Christian I don't think you meant he was more than the average guy (as in the Son of God). If you mean he was fictitous then: he did exist historically as much as Washington or Caesar, and even if you don't believe he was our Christ and Saviour you should believe he existed, unless you also don't believe that Lincoln or Hitler existed. Sorry if I misunderstood you . If I did just view the previous as being aimed towards people who think Jesus didn't exist at all, which it is. And yes, the Romans did treat him incredibly badly, no matter what your beliefs. Just put an average human in his place and it is still sad.

no i think jesus is real. As a matter of fact as a muslim i must believe that jesus is real. The koran states tah jesus and moses are prophets but that mohammed in THE prophet. I meant kinda just cuz he was a person but he wasn't average. My blood can't heal the blind and my touch can't heal the sick but his can. So he was physically like a person but at the same time not really because he was really mystical and such. No disrespect to your faith, but that's just the way i c it.

I just saw the movie last night and...well... yeah. It seemed everyone was crying, except me. I just couldnt get myself to do it. I would have cried though...
The movie was very moving and i did enjoy the filmwork, but somethings i really did not enjoy. For example:
I do not feel the movie is Anti-Semetic, but i have seen other films like this where not everyone in the crowd wants Jesus dead. In other films, the Phairasees (i cant spell this morning...please excuse me) would bribe people into turning against Jesus. The crowd was also mixed with supporters and people who were against Him.
Another thing i did not like was the dramatic death sequence. After Jesus raises his head towards the sky and passes away, the ground shakes violently. With these "tremors" the Temple breaks in half and what not. I felt that was a bit too far and unrealistic. It went away from the recorded story too much.
I did enjoy the addition of the tremors, though. I thought it was creative with the rain drop comming down. That i do like, it is just the extreeme of the temple being destroyed in a way that threw me off.
Over all I would say it was a well done film. Not the first of its kind, but it added more realism and horror to the story of Jesus.
