Holy crap man, this movie must be worth seeing. Those are some pretty high numbers. What kind of logic is that? Lots of "crap" can do well on its first weekend. I think you're right in this case-- the movie sounds like a winner-- but #2 gross on a weak release week (or any other time, really) does not inply that something is worth seeing, does it? -MS

Yes Mad Scientist, your logic is sound, painfully so in this particular area. People still think that a movie being #1 of anything in America means something! It means nothing. At all. Almost all of the time. Big Fish looks good, I just got Nightmare Before Christmas on VHS and recently saw Monkey Bone, which was reminiscent although I don't think Burton worked on it. It was not as bad as I had heard.

But LOTR:ROTK was #1. So are you saying that wasnt a good movie? Because, and this is my opinion, LOTR was one of the best movies Ive seen all year.

No,just that sales and figures mean nothing. The best movie could have made little to nothing and not be in the top ten, does that make it bad?A movie can also have great sales, and be good. But that doesn't happen as much, the American people are stupid, and watch the Real World.

Spy Kids was #1 and it was crap, along with many other movies I can't seem to think of. A lot of movies that aren't released nation wide are kick ass but they don't have much publicity out there or they pick the crappiest movie scenes to show for the commercials, even though the rest is good.
