Rap is only good on the drive to bowling. Simple as that.

rap and hip hop can be creative, and some soloists/ groups can do that. But i agree with sixswitch. Rap on the radio blows. The only people on the radio are people who fit the media "norm" of what is rap, losing the art of the action and prostituting itself in the MTV market.

i dont even think rap should be considered music. there is nothing but bass and words. not music. bo bobo bum da bum.. "b*tches and hoes right thurrrrrr" (note misspellings)

i enjoy some RUN DMC
and some Jurassic Five
and some others...
a lot if it is decent or good...but i think mostly its crap...and i do not like it...although i will not give it no talent...because it is difficult...

rap is definitley not crap, dont like the radio stuff like you guys have said, but a lot of it is really good. Its really stupid to call one whole genre of music "crap" there has to be at least one song out of the 393076098509 that exist that you like. It may not be your favorite, but it is "music", its got a rhythym and a beat...a few notes too. thats like saying metal is not music.

i said i like some. just for the most part i find rap to be my least favorite genre. DMC is good. beastie boys are also good, however i would not catercorize them as rap.

I don't listen to any of that fake rap on the radio, but I do listen to good stuff like Cypress Hill and Tribe Called Quest. And who could forget Kool Keith

Just like most other genres (expcept Pop, that all just sucks ass) rap has its good points. There just seem to be a lot less of them than in, say, rock, or ska.
One more thing, I would call the Beastie Boys rap because they usually don't sing, they rap. There is a very distinct difference.

i dont know, thats not really a good definition of rap, because bruce springsteen doesnt always sing, but he is not rap... the beastie boys ihowever, i guess they are sorta, but its a different category. like rap/rock. i guess the thing that really bugs me about rap is the uselessness and crappy lyrics of their songs. i cannot respect someone who raps about pimping hos right thur at the holidae inn, and purposeful misspellings are ridiculously stupid.
