I'm sure professors in Religion have been teaching that as a fact-oid for centuries. Then some guy probably wrote his doctorate book on it, and one of his students read it. That one student now probably works for Yahoo and thought they'd be all cool and origional and write that to seem cool and have other people think they are smarter than everyone else because they read Yahoo.
I need to stop these run-on sentences...

But, but...how could anyone who's wise be female? I mean, women are just man's servant, right? "...thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." So if they were women they'd be home serving their husband instead of wandering around giving gifts, right? And to think that women could possess anything of wealth, like gold. Pah, that's silly talk, right?
I'm sorry to be the first to say this, but The Bible is a book plagued with sexism. Just look at it, and it's there. Chances are, they were men, because there's no way the penholders would put women in a position that high. Really, I do apologize if I've offended anyone, but this is just an opinion from an unbiased onlooker.

technically what they are saying is that the penholders did say they were men, but the fact was they were women. but thats just a minor detail. yes, Beezlebub, you hit the nail on the head and once again I have laughed my ass off while reading your post. good job.

Heh heh, those headlines they quoted were pretty funny. It has also recently come to my attention that Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute. Maybe. Who the hell knows for sure? It's not like there's new evidence coming out, our perception of it has just been changed. I repeat, it has been changed. The Good Book says what the Church says it says. So do prayers. I personally think we shouldn't argue over details like that, if antiquity had wanted us to remembe all those details they would have been set down sooner, by people who were there, and preserved.

religions are so disorganized, no matter how much people try to organize them. thousands of years screw up records of events, and suddenly everyone's playing semantics. I hate people that take everything that is written literally.

My question is does is really matter? They may have been women, but what difference does it make? Also, one guy said "While it seems very unlikely that these Persian court officials were female, the possibility that one or more of the Magi were female cannot be excluded completely." That makes sense. Still makes no difference, I think.

The thing that matters were the three gift that were given to jesus by three wise individuals.
