Why whould anyone want to make the scouts co-ed? I don't see the point. It's called the Boy Scouts for a reason, and the girls have their own scouts. Boys and girls have different wants and needs in a troop, and therefore shouldn't be made co-ed. I was a Boy Scout up until about 4 years ago. I wound up quitting because it took up too much time and I had sports and other things to do. I did enjoy it, however the guys in the troop were kinda strange .

Ponder that thought. And (to keep you from attacking me) i understand Europe is an entirely different culture, but they arnt that different than us when you look at things.

i dunno, when your younger its all like "GIRLS HAVE COOTIES" "DO NOT" "YUH HUH" ...and so forth... also, the little girls like to bake little cookies, and the guys just like to run around with action figures, so that would be a mess....but when you get older like 13-14 or whatever, i think co-ed might be a possibility....

but when you get older like 13-14 or whatever, i think co-ed might be a possibility.... Very good point, and that's what exists in the US as of now. The BSA has 2 programs: The Ventrues and Explorers. The Ventures is like Boy scouts, but has fewer "merit badges" known as "requirements. Though with fewer requirements , they are longer in length than the traditional merit badge and.. yeah. Then there is exploring. Exploring was origionally set up to give inner city kids an idea of, and some preperation for, what they want to do in life. Explorer posts have a field "focus." Examples: A fire post, paramedic, nursing, police, etc. The most successful would be that of the Nursing/heath post in Chicago. I will change the topic soon. Just as a warning. I'm gonna try and heat this topic up little by little...

Beelzebub and unojuno, you both made really good points on the first page here. Being around girls would be good - I still have trouble relating to them and I've been living in the same building as a couple hundred of them for a year and a half. As for the sex at camp, it would happen. It would be nearly impossible to get around that, I've been to a co-ed camp with tons of restrictions and it still manages to happen. Ahh yes, Blue Lake (some of the bandcamp scenes from American Pie 2 were filmed there and, God willing, I'll be on staff there this summer). But I digress. I never got involved in Venturing or Explorers, although I tried to get into a Venturing crew, but they were lazy and never did stuff so that was a bust. Any not have Boy Scout and Girl Scout joint camps, like, during the day they would all go and do activities pertaining to their different requirements and stuff, but on off-time they could hang out together? It'd be sweet. Although I bet the waterfront would be way too popular.
